What Is SEO?

SEO stands for “search engine optimisation.” It is the process of getting traffic from the “free,” “organic,” “editorial” or “natural” search results on search engines. Basically… you want to be listed on the first page of each search engines listings.

All major search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo have primary search results, where web pages and other content such as videos or local listings are shown and ranked based on what the search engine considers most relevant to users. Payment isn’t involved, as it is with paid search ads.

There are many factors that help you get listed on the front page, location, relevance, speed of your site, your website code. Your keywords, sites that link to you… the bounce rate. Why does my website need SEO?

Your customer... who are they? In search Engine Optimisation you need to put yourself in the shoes of your customer. This is not that easy, first you need to find out who they are? A customer can be defined as someone who is likely to buy your goods or service, they might be friends or relatives, people who work near by or use the bus stop at the end of your road. They maybe 19-26 year old males.

Most goods or services have a niche, which is good because google is getting very good and categorising and classifying people. 

Then ask yourself or better still your customer what terminology and keywords and phrases they use when searching for similar goods and services to yours online? It is that simple. With the help of some online tools you can then expand that list to relevant similar terms. You then review your content to address those enquiries. So google knows exactly who to serve your website up to on their search results.
