The Biennial Irish Fashion Summit takes place once again, this time in the Westbury in Dublin, Ireland, on Saturday the 18th of November, 2017. The event is organised by the Council of Irish Fashion Designers (CIFD).
It was my privilege to speak at the last Summit at Farmleigh, along with Shelley Corkery the Fashion Director of Brown Thomas, Alexandra Pisco (Director Maisons De Mode) in Paris and designers Heidi Higgins and Blaithin Ennis. Cathal Keaveney of Peter Mark spoke and visually illustrated a fascinating brand built over several decades. I have to say it was an enjoyable and inciteful day that even included a quiet cup of Tea with the Tanaiste Joan Burton.
This years event looks to be as fascinating with industry stalwart Breege O’Donaghue opening the proceedings, formerly a guiding light at Penneys and Primark, Breege is now Chairperson, Design & Crafts Council of Ireland.
The much anticipated industry event is open to bona fide Fashion Designers and invited guests. Unfortunately I believe it is already a sell out, but keep an eye out in the press for more news surrounding the event.
